About Southampton
Southampton enjoys a lovely waterfront setting along the Solent inlet. Boasting some of the best shopping malls, and very modern architecture, it manages to contrast this very well with its historic landmarks. Southampton was renowned for its shipbuilding industry, and as a result a number of famous ships were built there including the Queen Mary.
Tudor House Museum which is housed in a particularly old and attractive building believed to be haunted by the ghost of Anne Boleyn, and the Solent Sky which is a Hall of Aviation - best known for its Spitfire and Tiger Moth biplane. The Rose Bowl is also a prominent local sporting venue where many important cricket matches take place.
