About Barcelona
Barcelona offers a great mix of activities and sightseeing with its urban beaches, water sports and cultural heritage. The streets of Barcelona are full of beautiful buildings as well as an impressive mix of galleries, museums and street stalls.
In Barcelona there are a variety of maritime themed visits including the aquarium, zoo and maritime museum as well as several art and history museums such as the Science, Textile and Clothing Centre, the National Art Museum of Catalonia, Barcelona Contemporary Art Museum and the Military Museum.
The Picasso museum is the result of Picasso’s wish that after his death his art would have a lasting impact on the city. The museum is located in the Gothic quarter of Barcelona and is dedicated to his early works. The museum of Contemporary Art is just off the Ramblas and is well worth a visit as even the building itself is an remarkable piece of modern art and is the start of the regeneration of the El Ravel district of Barcelona.
For a more active visit to Barcelona it is worth visiting Port Vell. The area was known as the old port but in recent years has been transformed into a modern leisure zone. Port Vell is home to the Barcelona Aquarium and close by is Port Olimpic where the 1992 Olympic sailing events took place!
