The ship is absolutely beautiful, and is especially great for families because it has a plethora of activities to engage in as families. The crew was nice and helpful. Loved the party ambiance at night through the whole ship. Would only recommend improvement on free food variety, but there was still something great to eat all the time...the buffet is almost always open. I loved the fact that it has huge windows everywhere, so you could always have a lovely view, even when working out. Had no issues in embarkation or disembarkation. I was really impressed by how many languages the crew speaks. I bought an internet package and it also worked fine for me to stay connected and work remotely. Traveled with my senior parents and my 10 year old daughter and we all want to go back soon. Wouldn't hesitate to choose MSC again, we had an amazing time

Greatness in the Mediterranean sea
This was our third cruise with MSC. We'd recently completed a 3 night cruise on Virtuosa, so when boarding The Grandiosa we already knew the ship's layout which saved time. The ship itself is absolutely stunning. Although it's nearly identical to Virtuosa the colours are different, and in my opinion I thought overall it looked grander. Dinning 1. Food in the MDR La Perle Gries was of a high standard, and the service provided was impressive. The waiter, Dedik was really attentive and friendly, and did too good a job of keeping our glasses topped up. 2. The buffer selection was good, but it was nearly always consistently busy. Top tip - other than the grill section it repeats - so move towards the back where the food counters are less crowded and there's always tables free. Speciality Dinning We'd booked the Trio Dinning package. We thought this was outstanding value for the quality of our meals and experience. 1. Kaito Sushi for lunch - beautifully prepared sushi, really enjoyed. 2. Kaito Teppanyaki - a real experience to remember. The meal was superb, but the real highlight is the experience provided by the acrobatic preparation of your meal by the the fantastic chefs. 3. L'Atelior Bistrot. My personal favourite of the speciality dinning experience. The restaurant itself is so beautifully presented. The design intrinsically connected to Parisian culture, you really do forget where you are and that you're on a ship. The meal was superb. Entertainment 1. The carousel (paid for shows) were really good - Sweet being slightly better than Strings. Just as on Virtuosa, the complimentary cocktail was not to my taste - and I did hear other passengers say they were horrible, and I'd agree. 2. The complimentary shows was reasonable. Mainly just singing - albeit the performers were strong. Experience spoilt by other guests streaming into the theatre after performance begun. Some people were taking their seats when the performance had less than 5 minutes to run. Rudeness on the part of guests, and bad that the ushers were still allowing them in. 3. Most of the other entertainment was provided on the pool deck. It was all okay - but personally I think a trivia quiz, picture quiz etc would be better inside where you can hear more clearly. Bars Couldn't be a more different experience to Virtuosa. Always a seat to be found, and rarely a wait for drinks. After 10pm the ship really thins out as people retire to their cabins and the bars and lounges are half empty. Spa We used the thermal spa area which was well appointed.

Very nice ship and enjoyable cruise
We chose MSC due to the price and the itinerary, which had a lot of ports we wanted to visit. Having read some of the other reviews I was pleasantly surprised to not experience most of the things everyone seems to moan about. The service from the stewards, restaurant and bar staff was great, they were very friendly and helpful. The guy serving us in Purple Crab was particularly nice. The only time service was a bit slow was on the pool deck when it was busy but I would expect that anyway. Embarkation (Barcelona) was quick and efficient as was debarkation. We only did one excursion which was also well organised. The food in the complimentary dining room was good - we only ate there 3 times but that is mainly as we prefer to do our own thing and not turn up to the same place every night. The buffet food was as expected and it was fine - the pizza was very good. It does get busy but if you pick your time then it's easy to get a table. Dress is casual - which suits us - if you want formal you can wear it, but if want everyone formal don't book MSC! There were a lot of kids and teenagers on board and a very broad range of ages and nationalities which I loved but again if that's not what you want then another line may be better for you. Gym was good - equipment was excellent. Didn't bother with the entertainment but there are several shows and parties going on most nights. The app was really useful once onboard but doesn't do much beforehand. I had the browse package for wifi and had no problem setting it up and no drop outs. All in all a very enjoyable cruise, I will use MSC again.
