FAQ: MSC Cruises - Web Check-In
Why do I have to complete a web check-in?
The web check-in is required to collect your personal data, which is necessary to issue your E-ticket and Boarding Pass. All guests must complete this process.
Click here to go to the MSC Cruises website in order verify the required travel documents and visas for your cruise.
What is the difference between an E-ticket and a Boarding Pass?
Both documents allow you to board the cruise, but they have different functions:
• E-ticket:
• An electronic ticket summarising all booked services, itinerary details, luggage labels, and other important information.
• Boarding Pass:
• A digital pass issued only to guests who book directly from the website and complete web check-in.
• It Contains a QR code scanned during the boarding.
If you have booked through My Kind of Cruise, as long as online check in is complete, we will automatically send your tickets to your registered email address when MSC makes them available.
Normally this is 14-21 days before departure, unless it’s a late booking.
How can I get my E-ticket or Boarding Pass?
If you booked through us, you can request your tickets from us directly.
When should I complete the web check-in?
Web check-in with the cruise line is available from 30 days to 24 hours before departure. We recommend completing it as early as possible once it is open, in order to ensure timely receipt of your E-ticket and Boarding Pass.
What information is required for web check-in on the cruise line's website?
• Mandatory fields will always be marked with an asterisk (*).
• Entering your postcode will automatically fill in the “Region and District” field.
• Security photo and credit card registration are optional but recommended to speed up embarkation.
How do I take the security photo?
• You need a device with a camera (e.g., smartphone or laptop).
• The system automatically captures your photo once lighting and positioning requirements are met.
• Please note: Local uploads are not possible.
What if I have trouble taking the security photo?
If you’re unable to take a security photo, the MSC staff on your cruise will take it upon embarkation. This photo is used for identification during embarkation and disembarkation at ports.
Do I have to register my credit card during web check-in?
No, credit card registration is optional. You can:
• Register your card onboard at Activation Points.
• Leave a cash deposit with Guest Services at reception after embarkation.
Ensure your credit or debit card is valid for international use.
Why should I register my credit card during web check-in?
• All onboard purchases are made using your personal Cruise Card - no need for cash or credit cards.
• If you register your card during web check-in, you won’t need to register it again onboard.
Can I change or delete my credit card details after entering them in web check-in?
• You can only register a credit card for yourself or guests included in your booking.
• Once registered, credit card details cannot be changed, corrected, or canceled before departure.
• For changes, contact Guest Services onboard.
What is the Emergency Contact, and what details should I provide?
An Emergency Contact is a person who can be reached in case of an emergency during your cruise. Provide:
• Full name
• Phone number
• Relationship to you (e.g., friend, family member)
What should I do if I cannot save my data during web check-in on the MSC Cruises website?
Try the following troubleshooting steps:
• Switch devices (e.g., use a laptop instead of a smartphone).
• Ensure your browser is up to date.
• Clear cookies and cache, then try again.
What do I need to know about embarkation times?
MSC Cruises assigns a specific check-in slot by default.
Can I change my check-in slot?
• Check-in slot changes are only possible during web check-in (from 30 days before departure).
• If only the assigned time is available, you won’t be able to change it.
What happens if I arrive earlier than my assigned check-in slot?
• You may be required to wait outside the terminal until your check-in slot opens.
What happens if I arrive later than my assigned check-in slot?
• If you miss your check-in slot, you may be denied embarkation.
Where can I find ship arrival and departure times?
• Your ticket or the MSC for ME app will show estimated times, which may change.
• Always adhere to your assigned check-in slot to avoid delays.
How can I connect my reservation with another to share the same dinner table?
• Enter your friend’s or family member’s booking number in the “Travel With” section during web check-in on the MSC Cruises website.
